Video Update with our working Tank from November 2, 2012 There are bubbles coming out of the pump because there is not a lot of water in the the sump bucket. Video by Gabriel Concepcion Just a Picture Update for our ROVs... Photos by Gabriel Concepcion Today, we conducted some temperature and salinity tests and continued building our ROV. Today we worked on our ROVs and our sump. We added Liverock and Bioballs to the bottom of our sump. The Liverock is just rock covered in organisms that help keep our tank very similar to the ocean. The Bioballs are plastic round balls with a lot of surface area. The surface area allows algae to grow on them. We also built our ROVs. We are not done yet, but we have made some progress on them. Today we started working on our ROVs or our Remotely Operated Vehicle. But first, like I said yesterday, we added salt to our tank. We added the salt to the water at around the exact ratio as the salt in the ocean. Then we worked on our ROVs and cut the PVC piping that we will use to build it.
Pictures and more details will be added soon. We are almost finished with our project. We have just moved our tank upstairs and completed our rack. Our rack sits conjoined with another group's rack and our tank sits on the left side. Everyone is supposed to have their tanks filled with water today and each have aerators that will oxygenate the water. Since our aerator is not fully assembled, our water is stagnant and not as oxygenated as other groups. Tomorrow we are probably going to add in the salt into the water. Photos by Gabriel Concepcion |
